Modifications to your registration may be made online or by submitting changes in writing to the CAJE National Office in New York by July 1, 2006.
Your application will not be processed unless it is accompanied by a $360 deposit ($50 of which is a non-refundable processing fee). An application sent without a deposit or with invalid credit card information will delay processing (and could disqualify your Early-Bird status and possibly your ability to join us at the Conference if the Conference registration closes). All balances are due by June 16, 2006. If an application is made online with an indication that payment is to be made by check, the check, with the required amount, must be received in the CAJE office within two weeks or the application will be considered void.
CAJE and the Duke University will do their best to meet the special eeds of any Conference participant. All of the facilities CAJE will use on campus are wheel chair accessible. If you have particular physical or dietary challenges, please let us know about them by writing the CAJE National Office in New York, so we can prepare to make you as comfortable as possible.
All cancellations and requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to the CAJE National Office. If your written cancellation is postmarked by July 1, 2006, you will receive a full refund of Conference fees, less a $50 processing fee. CAJE membership fees are not refundable. After July 1, 2006, you will receive the portion of Conference fees not contractually due, less the $50 processing fee. These refunds will not be sent until CAJE has paid all Conference bills. Special circumstance cancellations will be reviewed on a case-by case basis, only if communicated to CAJE in writing. Refunds requested after July 1 will be issued after the Conference except for applicants not accepted into the Teen Leadership Kallah.
For CAJE members unable to meet Conference costs, limited partial scholarships are available. Write or email the National CAJE Office to request information and an application. Since many local communities and schools provide grants and funding to attend CAJE, we urge you to first check for funding in your local community. We also offer a limited number of work-study positions. CAJE work-study assistants will be required to work five hours per Conference day (Sunday, August 6 – Thursday, August 10) in exchange for full Conference funding. Work-study positions are for the Conference only and do not include Shabbat, Pre-Conference, or single room supplement. Applicants will be screened based on work skills and financial need. To apply for a scholarship click here, for work-study, click here. You must have a complete Conference application on file and be a current CAJE member prior to applying for either option. The deadline for all requests is May 22, 2006.
Enrollment at CAJE 31 is on a first-come, first-served basis. Spaces could be filled well before the posted final payment deadline. You are urged to submit your forms and payment as early as possible. Applications postmarked after June 16, 2006 must be paid in full or they will not be processed.
We have arranged a block of rooms at special prices at the Washington Duke Inn, a beautiful hotel on the Duke campus ($169, single or double occupancy). There are also rooms available at the Couryard by Marriott. When making reservations, be sure to identify yourself as a CAJE 31 participant.
Note: the hotel will not be within the Eruv.

Much of the joy of CAJE is what happens outside of the classroom setting where networking and meeting friends occur spontaneously and often after-hours. Those who get the most out of a CAJE Conference immerse themselves in the whole experience by staying on campus. The cost of the Conference (Aug. 6–10) includes all programs, meals (Sunday dinner through Thursday lunch), lodging, including bedding, towels, soap, drinking cups, and local-access telephones. All buildings CAJE is using are air-conditioned.
If you register as a commuter, you are entitled to all programs and meals (Sunday dinner through Thursday lunch). There is a one time $5 fee for a parking permit.
We have made arrangements with Charlene's Safe Ride to provide shuttle service between the University and the airport. Click here to view their rates and make reservations.
All food is prepared under rabbinic supervision. Meals at CAJE 31 are dairy/pareve (except Shabbat dinner and lunch, which are meat meals with vegetarian options available). Provisions will be made for people who let us know about specific food allergies in advance.
Programming will begin Sunday, August 6 at 4:00 pm. You should plan to arrive on campus in the early afternoon. The program will end Thursday, August 10 at 1 pm, after lunch.
We encourage you to register and bring your whole family to CAJE. There are options for every member of your family.
For children under 5, childcare will be conducted on campus. For children ages 5–12, an off-site day camp experience will be provided by staff members of the Raleigh Jewish Community Center at their site (a 20-minute bus ride from campus).
Group babysitting is available Sunday through Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm to midnight. ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Additional information will be sent after we receive your completed childcare application(s).
For children up to age 12, just fill in the appropriate spaces on your application. Don’t forget to add their fees to your total cost.
Yes, apply right away! Your child must be pre-registered for CAJE childcare/camp. Enrollment in our children’s programs is limited by the availability of staff and facilities. Children are accepted strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Complete details about the childcare programs as well as health and information forms will be mailed to those who enroll.
Cribs are available only by registering and paying in advance. (Make sure you request a crib in the appropriate space on your application.)
The fee for childcare/camp is $170. This is in addition to the basic charge for children of differing ages to attend the Conference either as commuters or residents. Please check the appropriate lines on the fees page of the application to ensure that your child is enrolled in childcare.
Childcare/camp includes daycare (8:15am–5:15pm), evening babysitting (if requested in advance), and a beeper for parents with children under the age of 5. If your child is age 5 or over and you wish a beeper, see “Extra Fees” on the application. Children 12 and under should be registered on your application. There is no childcare available during Pre-Conference or Shabbat. Childcare begins with Sunday evening babysitting (for those who request it).
Children 13 and over must be registered using a separate application.
During the quiet moments after dinner, take part in CAJE 31's special family activities. There will be interactive projects and entertainment specifically designed to enhance your family experience at CAJE 31.
Incoming 7th through 9th graders are invited to become part of the Bogrim community.
Note: The Bogrim program begins on Monday. There is a separate fee for Bogrim who attend Shabbat or Pre-Conference, but there are no Bogrim programs until Monday.
Teens are welcome to attend CAJE and participate in all sessions and programs. All teens who attend CAJE 31 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or educational sponsor.
